Default Odometer Not Working

I just bought a ‘84 C4. It reads 175k miles. When I drove it back home the 300 mile trip I noticed that the odometer only moved about a single mile along the whole trip. Anyone have any idea why? I’m about to take the cluster off but before I do that I wanna know some possible solutions. Thanks!

Is the speedometer working, if so the signal generator is working so that leaves a bad motor on the odometer or possibly a circuit problem

Maybe if you pull odometer and give it a small touch of fine oil like used on a sewing machine see if it frees up

Speedometer works great! I’ll try that out when I pull it thanks! If not you think it’s a motor?

Make sure you have Very Clean hands when you get to the Odometer it's a flat matted surface that picks up finger prints easily
No spraying of a little lube just a touch or two on shaft or wherever needed
It's not a tough job to get the cluster out but it might seem it, radio bezel off.dash face bezel off dash top out or at least very loose
You will also need a 5.5 mm socket

One other thing to look at because I had seen it is missing teeth on the odometer, I just remembered that weird stuff of 40 years ago

When you pull the cluster you want to check the actual number(should/could be a label). I believe that odometer issues with '84 MY were actually corrected using the 85+ odometer and a corresponding motor after production.
