Re: Drag Strip: Question for the automatic guys. (krivera)
I start in 1st. If I do spin and let off, it won't go into 2nd by itself. If I let it shift, it shifts to early. I know I need to fix that, I just haven't. Anyway I shift about 6000-6200 in all gears.
Re: Drag Strip: Question for the automatic guys. (CORKVETTE1)
I used to leave it in D when it was stock. Now with the SR, cam, and headers it would not rev out enough, so I have to manually shift it.
I launch in 1, hold it to about 5500-5800, burn 2nd and hold it to about 5700-5900, and then hit 3rd. The stock weights shift too early for a modded car.
Before mods=D was fastest and consistent 14.1-14.2
After mods= Manual shifting 13.0-13.4

Leave it in"D".
I know some may get faster times if they shift manually but will lack the consistancy needed for bracket racing. If you are racing your buddies... shift it. If you are bracket racing ...leave it in "D". It may or may not be quicker, but when you can win or loose by 1000th of a second, letting the trans shift itself will let you nail your dial in. You will just not be as consistant if you shift yourself.! I only have three gears now anyway, and I like to keep both hands on the wheel off the line to keep it straight. I'm outta first so fast who has time to shift from 1 to 2?.....Good luck at the track!
