Hello everyone.
I have recently purchased new visors for my 1985 and was wondering how easy it is to install by myself.
I am handy just want to check as there are no instructions in the box.
They appear to be plug n play but is it difficult to remove the interior roof trim to get to the guts??
any advice is appreciated
you remove the top (or fold it back if convertible), remove a few screws from the plastic covers then one spring loaded nut. This is one of the easiest jobs you will ever do on your car. Due to quality of OEM and age this has been one of the first repairs done to the several Corvettes I have owned.
Hang onto the visor while you remove the nut. I took my hand off of it just as the nut let it go. Luckily the wires for the light ripped out from the visor side and not on the car side - so i didn't have to repair two tiny wires back into a tiny connector.

Zoiks - well noted, will keep my eyes, and fingers on the prize thanks
main thing is to keep an eye on that spring, when you remove that toothed washer that holds the spring down, it will fly 10 feet in the air, don't lose that spring
How do you compress the spring, push the nut on, and hold the visor up at the same time? I don't have three hands, so after some head-scratching I came up with this. I used the power seat 'tilt' to hold the visor in the full up position. I pre-flattened the prongs on the nut with a hammer on the anvil of my bench vice. Then popped the nut on with a socket and gentle tap of a plastic mallet. Cheers.
