I have a 1996 Corvette. A couple of days ago my fuel pump took a dump. Also took the small 10A fuse with it. I've replaced the pump and fuse and the car started right up. I put the car in the garage, then replaced the rubber drain boot, which took some pushing to get in. I went to start it today and no fuel pressure. I disconnected the connector that supplies voltage to the pump. As it should, it has 12v for 2 seconds when the key is turned on. I then took a 9v battery and connected it to the pump side of the connector and the pump ran. The male terminals of the voltage side of the connector look greenish - sort of like weathered copper. I ordered a connector cleaning kit and cleaned the terminals but still no voltage is getting to the pump. My question is this; is it possible that I somehow screwed up the connector when pushing the rubber drain boot in? Thanks!!
Thanks for the reply. Funny thing, I replaced that relay with a NAPA relay when I replaced the fuel pump. So I'm going to put the original relay back in. BTW, I did splice in a new connector and have the same issue! I know I must be missing something stupid... So I'm in the process of tearing the dash apart again to put the original relay back in. I'm hoping the NAPA relay was just defective or something...
So I put the original pump relay back in and she fired right up. I just didn't think that a brand new relay would be defective! Anyway, that's for the reply!!
Happy you didn't have to go back into the fuel tank! I've had a back-up relay in the glove box for awhile now, just in case. Worried I better test it after hearing your experience!! 🍻
