So now that I have figured out how to refill the 6-speed transmission without removing the fill plug!!
I notice a small oil leak which I am assuming is from the engine. It drains only to the driers side, ends up on the bottom of the transmission and exhaust pipe.
I replaced the valve cover gaskets, which appears to have been OK and replaced the oil pressure switch on the back of the engine, that is where i suspect the problem may be.
Are there any oil leaks that are traditionally associated with the C4 LT1 engine?
First, of all, thanks for all the suggestions. The transmission oil was replaced after fabricating a new drain plug with a 3/8" NPT threaded hole which I then used a brass nipple of that thread type with a barbed end. I attached a clear plastic hose to the nipple and used my Oil extraction pump to fill the transmission from new quart bottles of fluid. I.E., I used the pump in reverse. Then I held the plastic hose up against the side of the transmission to view the level of oil which corresponded to the bottom of the fill plug. This entire operation, I give thanks to the recommendation found on my thread.
There was still a persistent oil leak! I finally traced it to the Oil Pressure switch located on the back of the engine. It is installed on a small hex shaped manifold that also holds another oil pressure switch. The switch I replaced is the one closest to the engine. It appears that oil was leaking internally past the mechanical portion of the switch exciting out the wire!!
