Default 84 TPS problems.

Hi I’m a new owner of a 84 corvette and its codes currently are 22 and 42.

I was trying to tackle code 22 low tps voltage sensor because I thought it would be a piece of cake. It hasn’t

the ground Is completing a circuit and I am getting 5volts from the ecm signal but my problem is the positive wire is getting no signal from a multi meter nor is it completing circuits.

Where does the tps positive signal wire start at because I’m losing track of where it’s going honestly.

I don't really understand your problem description.

One pin should have 5V is generated by thr ECM and you should also have the same 5V at the MAP sensor
One pin should be ground.
The center pin is the signal back to the ECM, and that should vary from about 0.5 V at closed throttle to about 4.5 V att full open throttle.

From top to bottom

the one on top reads 5.2v to be exact

the middle reads 0 and when I connect a circuit check on it the bulb dosent light up

the bottom grounds perfectly fine (the bulb does light up completing a circuit)

im new to cars and this is the first one I’ve ever worked on

The voltage at the middle pin should change when you move the throttle. Did you move the throttle position while measuring the voltage?

A light bulb won't light from the middle pin of the TPS. The circuit resistance is too high.

Okay I just wasn’t testing it properly. Sorry used error.

so the way it’s set currently it goes from .533 closed then at full throttle 4.8 is that acceptable?

That is about ad perfect as it gets. Standard values are 0.54 V and 4.8 V.

You will probably need to replace the tps
