Default 91 Exhaust???

Ok talk to me like I am 2 I have on idea
I found a whole in my driver side muffler while removing the antenna
so I have three options
Option 1:
I know a guy said he can patch I don't know if i really feel good about that (he is a mechanic owns a shop not really known for his exhaust work)
Option 2:
i know another guy said he could do a muffler delete sometime in october for me( he does custom exhausts has that pipe bender thing )
Option 3:
my coworker gave me 2 flowmaster 10 but they're not the dual outlet
there is another mechanic that says he can put the flomasters on and make it look like the quad split
And it will still pass inspection

or are there other options that I can do that? Will make it still pass inspection???

Find a replacement factory system. Look on Craigslist, Facebook or here. Plenty of people parting out cars. Most systems are cheap.

Default Exhaust upgrades...

Now is the perfect time to update/upgrade your exhaust. Myself I purchased a Corsa cat back system. I found that they have a great sound and stainless steel dual tips.

Why not go with long tube headers, dual pipes straight back to an X pipe then out to the mufflers of your choice. I run this exact set up with Corsa mufflers on my 86. It sounds great with no drone and if I am not stepping down on the go pedal I can actually hear the stereo. If I get on it it gets really loud

I think I have 3 cats
The center comes off or is a Y that splits and goes to the mufflers somthing like that (talk to me like i am 2)
I don't know what i am looking at and I don't really fit under

do you mean remove all the cats
I think their are 02 sensors by the front cats
Or do you mean just the center one

no smog where I live so probably could lose the cats
is their a way around codes

The 2 cats right off the exhaust manifolds would have to go away. Those are the ones in the Y pipe. Run 1 pipe off each header back to where the third cat ( resonator) is. Remove the resonator at replace with an X pipe. Then out to your choice of mufflers

The part you left off is the size of the hole. Auto parts stores carry an epoxy that could seal up smaller holes.

I have muffler eliminators on my current car, they are much louder, if that makes you happy it does clean up the look of the back side

in my opinion, the Flowmaster 10s are going to be as loud as the eliminators

This is almost a personal taste question rather than a tech one. Pick what fits the budget and makes you happy

The whole was missed on inspection (top side)
could't see to much when i was just doing antenna what I could see of it looks like a rip probably looks worse than what I could see. Hand size or better
not sure if anything's damaged on the inside

i had wanted to just put a muffler delete originally
But I was told by the guy that inspected me if I don't install mufflers. I won't pass inspection next year and I could get flowmaster outlaw tens and it would still pass inspection
he said I would need to find all the parts.
I might just be overthinking it

i do want to increase the car's performance
reduce restriction, and weight
but there are so many different options out there.
and I do want it a little bit louder

Thank you everybody for all of your ideas and info

I'd just replace them both while your at it with an OEM muffler.... You can find ones that guys have taken off, and as said EBAY , Facebook is a good place to look.

If you cant pass inspection, then deletes are out of the question. The Flowmasters will sound great, but you are going to pick up drone in the cabin. If you can handle that, then do those.......

If you want performance, replace the whole system with an OBX / Maximizer exhaust. If you have the $$$$$ to blow, get a Corsa system. Or you can find an OEM LT4 exhaust that should bolt right up, I could be wrong on that......

But the Original exhaust is good, it just has 2 places were it necks down and is restrictive........... Before going into the resonator and going into the mufflers. That is why a lot of guys replace the resonator with a X-pipe and get aftermarket mufflers. But again, doing this may cause drone in the cabin at certain RPMs........

I guess the answer to your question all revolves around how much money you can spend on it. I love that people throw out (replace it with a Corsa or some other overpriced option) when they have no idea what you can spend on your car. Considering none of your 3 options in your first post were "replace the exhaust" I doubt that's an option you want to do.

I've patched more mufflers than I can count. You don't need to be an expert welder to do it. In fact I've seen this done with an oxy acetylene torch and a coat hanger with a piece of steel cut off an old refrigerator. So your friend who can weld it would probably do just fine. He might even show you how to weld for a case of beer. Don't be afraid to learn something.

If you're not opposed to removing the cats now that opens up some options. As far as I know 91's don't have a rear O2 sensor, so you don't have to worry about codes. But if you pull the cats then you can send them off to a place like this https://rrcats.com/how-shipping-works/
You have to prove that you own the car and send them a picture of your drivers license. They will pay the shipping cost and then pay you for your cats. The last pair I sent in I got $200 for. And that was for cats with model numbers that couldn't be read. Yours would probably be worth more. So with this money you could afford a better exhaust if you wanted. Or you could just buy beer. Your choice

First, I wouldn't weld or patch anything with a hole. That's just me. Replacement exhaust parts for these cars are relatively inexpensive, and I'm just the type who doesn't like what I consider to be a "band-aid" fix.

That said, I considered a Corsa and a few other systems. Corsa has a great sound and IMO looks the best, but it's very overpriced. I got the car up on a lift and everything was neat, fit well and looked almost new (my car, C6, has less than 50K miles). The stock systems are good for up to around 415HP, so I just decided to leave mine alone. I'm beyond the age where I'm going to rev my motor every time I go through a tunnel; I'll leave that to Mustangs and pickup trucks with glass packs.

I bet you can get a full stock system, gently used, for a good price. Good luck.
