The center digital screen on my 1992 is hard to read on a sunny day but very readable at night. Does that screen have backlighting with regular bulbs or is it an all in on unit? What is the cure for a dimly lit screen?
For clarification I can see the characters (speedometer, odometer, other sensor readings) just not clearly as if the screen brightness is turned down. And funny to me is the fact that my iPhone can see it better than me. I took a pic and the picture is readable (see below)
Has it always been like this, or was it better before?
their was a post on here a little while ago. Said take the whole instrument cluster out
the little black circles are where the bulbs are
i was trying to fix my odometer so I don't really remember exactly what the post was
(PAIN you have to remove the trim, and I think lower the steering wheel, not just the tilt. There's like a plate underneath, I haven't done it yet)
but if it's the lcd screen i think that that is different the bulbs are for the gauges i believe
i think lcd needs sent out to be repaired theirs a place on ebay like 300
try putting "the cluster" for your year in youtubeyou should be able to find a video that's fairly informative
Good luck sorry not much help
Maybe just something to verify for yourself, before you tear into it. Are you wearing glasses and / or sunglasses when you're viewing it? I've found that my polarized sunglass lenses make LCD displays almost vanish in most of my cars. Seems like you mentioned it's fine at night? 🤔 just a thought, good luck 👍
