Small red wire from battery

Looking at the Haynes wiring diagram. The small red wire from battery+ goes to the fan switch.
Question is why does car die if I disconnect it?
I don't think you need a fan to run the engine so it must go somewhere else also.

Its an 84, the wire in question is the same on all of them.

I have an 84 and on my FSM fan relay schematic it shows the small red wire also feeding the ECM.

And from that S332 splice it goes also to other components,

i would say no to that particular buy from Eckler's but I haven't bought from Ecklers for 15+ years.

That manual doesn't include the EDM(Electrical Diagnostics Manual) so there's no diagrams like Tom and I posted. Read the disclaimer from Eckler's. My PM offer to you I believe a much better value!
