Default 95 manual, losing power under acceleration, pulling timing?

Hi folks, still new to the c4 issues..trying to problem solve a power loss under acceleration.

95 manual with 56,000miles.
All new fluids front to back, new fuel filter fresh fuel finally.
Idles and runs smooth, starts very quickly, no codes stored in computer and no engine lights.

Issue is as I give it a some throttle from low rpm, starts to pull than around 2000-3000rpm i feel a drop in acceleration. Keeps pulling smoothly but not 300hp pulling. Very underwhelming.

Curious how can i pull timing real time? Or how can I tell if timing is being pulled? I do have a tick on the driver side, comments where that it sounds like exhaust leak. Curious if this could be causing knock sensor to pull timing?

An old laptop, $60 cable, and free software (eeHack) is all you need. Arguably, 94-95 have the best PCMs for datalogging and tuning. You’ll, be able to see your timing and knock retard. I’d work on solving the mechanical issue first, seems possible a the knock sensor could be picking it up.

Check for fuel pressure changes.

thought it could be fuel delivery too but the power loss is noticiable and linear after I feel the drop. New filter, fresh gas ran fuel injection cleaner a few times through the tank but will check...

Yes, I know I used eeHack on a Win7 machine which is now running 10. Maybe would work in older OS. Free to try!

Not sure on the cable, I’ve had mine for 15+ years so no clue where I got it but I do believe it was $80ish back then. It is a good quality cable that goes from the OBD1.5 ALDL to USB.
