Driving @65 in 6th, no real load or sharp cornering.
Car stumbled once like it was running out of gas. Downshifted to 5th and increased my rpm, did it one more time. Gas gauge reads just under a half a tank. Distance to empty was reading 190 but at the time of the stumble dropped to 160 then after a couple minutes came back up to 190. Made it the remainder of my drive home, about 5 mi without incident.
As far as I know this is the original fuel pump and sending unit. Starting to go out? Water in the tank? Anyone experience anything similar before a failure?
Maybe? I believe you confirm the amount of fuel in the tank, using a pressure gauge check pressure under the hood at the fuel rail. If you've no knowledge of any maintenance you replace the fuel filter that's behind the R/F wheel attached to the frame rail considering it maintenance. If you find pressure low at fuel rail then move forward. If you do a new pump use caution when purchasing and be sure to replace the fuel pump strainer/sock/filter.
Do you have the FSM(Factory/Field Service Manual)?
