Did they put in a new distributor?? What was wrong with your old one?? Please explain! Suggest you look for someone else to work on your 84!

Do you ever get a CEL light? If so, what is the code set? $800 for a dizzy change is ridiculous. You could have put a DUI dizzy in there for under $325 and be much better than a stock one. Why did they say the dizzy was bad? I would have went for a module change first which again is MUCH cheaper. That shop ripped you off.

Do you have an 84 GM service manual? If not, get one. It has all the troubleshooting in the manual you should need to find the issue. If the dizzy was replaced as an entire unit, the module would have been replaced as well. So, it appears that a heating issue is not the cause of a module failure. Next like mentioned would be to check the fuel pressure and set it to 13psi and be done. GL
