Do C6 Z51 brakes fit in 17" C4 Buzzsaw wheels?
From what I have gathered, the base C6 brakes (JL9) fit the C4 17" wheels. I do not know if the C6 Z51 (Code J55, not the same as C4 J55) fit. I am fine spacing out the wheels to get the brakes to clear. From what I have gathered the base C6 rotors are 12.8" dia and Z51 rotors are 13.4".
Backstory
Some friends and I are building C4 endurance race car. This is for amateur endurance racing. Each weekend we will see 16 hours of racing. Keeping consumables to a minimum is important to us. For tires we are using the size 255/40R17. These are typically much cheaper than equivalent widths on 18s. We found a set of 17x9.5 buzzsaw wheels which will serve us well, but what brakes will fit? Which brings us to where we are now.
just went to the garage & could not fit a 1/2" shim between the caliper & barrel. not sure about the C4 wheel construction like barrel thickness or spoke depth, but i'm willing to bet it'd be too close for comfort.
pretty sure you need an 18" wheel to clear the C6 J55 calipers/rotors
i'm running stock rear C5 18x9.5 thin spokes over mine.
C6 Z51 will fit inside a 5 spoke, but c5/6/c6 Z51 will need at a minimum a spacer to push the rim out. I have never checked the inside of the barrel on a sawblade wheel.

the C6 Z06 / GS (J56) front brakes need a 1/4" spacer to clear an 18" C5 thin spoke's spokes, but J55s (C6 Z51) fit just fine by themselves. those calipers are closer to the barrel than the spokes, and i can fit a whole finger/knuckle over the caliper face. multiple road course days proved no problems.
