You may get a total of 375HP but not an additional 375 on a stock engine.
Interesting my Goal is to get it to 800hp total, any suggestions on what to do after the supercharger or potentially instead of? Fairly new modify cars this heavily I’ve previously only really done stock engine stuff that the cars needed
You're going to need some short block work for a reliable 800hp on the L98.
Sure, you could bolt on a procharger setup capable of 1200 horsepower, but your engine won't handle it.
You are going to need to build the block, replace cam, crank, heads and intake. Bore the cylinders .030 over and then install the power adder of your choice.
The transmission and rear end are going to need to be built as well because they won’t hold up after ~ 450hp
Not sure if the L98 bottom ends are built as tough, but my stock bottom end 1993 lt1 held up fine to 15 PSI boost on E85, 100% meth spray, no intercooler and a 75 shot nitrous.on a 6500 RPM redline
Note that the 1992-1993's still had forged rods
The clutch on that set up is what 'broke' and that was a spec stage 3+
Though Im not sure if it broke bc the clutch spring hub springs wore thru their cages, fell out and jammed one of the pressure plate's fingers open and allowing the disc to slip.
It burned a hole thru the steel insert bolted to the aluminum flywheel.
So everytime after when I went to spray nitrous (on top of boost) - like on a highway pull, the clutch disc would spin like I was in neutral.
My rear end did not hold up fine, I broke a stub end.
Apparently a 3200 RPM launch on a street twin clutch, at the track on Mickey Thompson ET Street R's is enough to break a stub end.
If I was doing a 6000 RPM clutch drop, sure I could see something breaking, but 3200 RPM is pansy
Like I said, it depends on how it's treated. An auto trans and soft sidewall slicks would allow them to take a whole lot more abuse before breaking. Mine have withstood many many 9 second passes. A manual transmission has a much harder instantaneous shock on the drivetrain during a launch, even if it produces a much slower launch.
If he has an auto trans, he's already in a better position to make drivetrain parts live longer.
Just for planning purposes, my highly modified 383 supercharged LT1 put out 595 rwhp. A similar build from the same shop added nitrous and hit 786 rwhp. iIn my case it was wasted time and energy. With a 700r4 transmission I could never control the power in 1st and 2ng gear.
