My AC is acting funny. I turn it on in when I start up the car and it works just fine, blows real nice and cold. After running for a while, sometimes a few minutes, sometimes an hour, it just starts to blow hot, real hot. And the heater has been broken for a while, if I turn the heat on, it will blow fresh air temp instead of heat. Then I turn off the car and start it, and it will blow cold, for a while, but inevitably, it will get hot again. The light doesnt blink a trouble code everytime either.
Its going to start getting warm here soon! I need AC!
I do not think you are going to get much responses as most of the country is still freezing. :D
I live in Miami also and had a similar problem. It would start cold and slowly would die out on me. It finally died and it was the compressor. It depends how handy you are with AC but I took mine to the Corvette Hangout. They converted my system to 134a replaced the compressor the orifice tube and filter plus changed all the seals and the bottle for under $450.00. If you want them let me know I will email you the number.
State Trooper Station,Trash Dump, same thing aint it???!!!!LOL or it should be! Darn Troopers writing silly tickets all day, go do some serious law enforcement or something!
Could be a couple of things, but it may be a low charge & a faulty or misadjusted pressure switch causing the evaporator to ice up (especially with high humidity), If the switch is operating correctly, the compressor may cycle off for long periods of time or cycle excessively with a low charge. It could also be an overcharge or a partially plugged orifice. You need to hook up a manifold gauge set & note the high & low pressures with the engine at about 1500 rpm & the cooling fan on (disconnect the cooling fan switch on the high pressure line to keep the fan running), a/c on coldest setting. Icing on the low side points to a faulty or misadjusted low pressure switch. Compressor off for a long time or excessive cycling (more than 8x's/min @ 70 degrees is GM specs)/low charge. You really need operating pressures to diagnose.
The compressor stays on
I get code 02 - temp door motor fault
I read some posts about how hard it is to change this thing. Has anyone successfully chaanged it by drilling the hole to remove the 3rd upper bolt? If so, whats the procedure, and what is the price and # of the part I have to replace?
