Weird RPM Reading
88 4+3, stock L98, I’ve been dealing with a vibration issue around 2800-3000 rpm, happens when driving and sitting still in neutral, since I bought the car. Just noticed today that when I accelerate hard, that around 3500 rpm, the tach actually starts to drop down, though the engine is clearly reving upwards. Never noticed it before because I’m focused on the road when driving it hard. Now that I think about it I don’t think I’ve ever seen the tach hit anywhere in the 4000 range?

There is a tach filter. Should be a white wire going into a metal cylinder shaped thing like a condenser on the old school distributors. This is grounded at the intake manifold on my car.
When mine broke the white wire, the car would start but not run long.
