I took my door panel off and disconnected the courtesy lights when i put it back together the door and under dash lights stopped working and when i open the door a humming sound is coming from under dash by the glove box. What to look for?
What year, also run through your fuses only takes a second. Courtesy lights are on that fuse. Now for the noise my 93 has a fuse 5 of 10 amps not sure which one that was loose and when it was blown or loose would make a relay buzz under the passenger dash

Its a 93 40th anniversary. I checked the fuses and found the 5 amp fuse that controls the courtesy lights, I pulled it and replaced it with a different 5 amp fuse and get the same result. Would a grounded wire cause the same thing?
Courtesy fuse I believe is a 15 but don't hold me to that, take a test light and run each side of the fuses. If you look at each fuse they have an open top with grounded test touch each fuse or you can use a volt meter to do same function.
A wire to ground will cause a blow fuse
more likely whatever happened during the "took my door panel off and disconnected the courtesy lights when i put it back together" slightly drained the battery and it is a low voltage condition.
less likely is the relay itself. if it still happens, then crawl up the passenger side dash while it is buzzing and hear and feel for the relay, not so easy to access but the 'dome lamp' relay is the rightmost near the door. The relays are all the same you can swap out to test.
Does everything else work? does the engine start? what is the battery volts?
I found the problem, the door switch, i pushed the switch in several times and let it snap out several times and the lights came on, then closed the door and opened it normally and the lights stayed off until I let it snap out again, I guess I need to look for another switch or see if I can clean the contacts, thanks for all the help.
