I just wanted to share that it is difficult to find parts for the column that don't have the Corvette tax on them. I removed my steering wheel to throw on a quick release set up on it and destroyed the upper steering shaft piece. Long story, but it is pretty clear it was siezed on there. I destroyed my steering wheel puller in the process and had to resort to a sawzall and cuttoff wheel to get the b*tch off. But I digress.
I went searching for a replacement part because I destroyed this piece: Broken upper steering shaft (telescoping)
So I went to ebay and found this: Outrageous Corvette Tax
I made an offer to the seller of $50 but he declined saying he would only make $30 off the part if I bought it for my offer. Which is fine. That is his prerogative.
I opened up my search to pretty much anything and found this: Reasonable price.
I am 99% sure this is the exact same part. I guess, all I want to do is rant against the Corvette tax and encourage folks to open up their search options and look around for alternatives.
Your issue was 'self inflicted' I'm quite sure. Knowing very litte about what you were about to get into! Likely not the first part you've destroyed and likely not the last. eBay is a great place to both shop and sell!!

100%! I never pulled an older style steering wheel before. "Sh*t happens and then you die" - Old Football Coach
GM is a funny place they do make Vehicle exclusive parts but where they can they reach off the old warehouse shelf, so I bet if you went into the junkyard and found an old Cadillac or road master maybe even a later C-3 you would find such parts for $20 or less
