I've recently purchased a 92 convertible roller (no engine, no trans, no ecm), the car was originally equipped with LT1 and 6-speed. I also purchased a 92 LT1 motor and automatic trans that were removed from a 92, I am still trying to find a ECM. Does anyone know if the ECM controls the transmission? My concern is that if I purchase a ECM based on the VIN #, it will not work correctly with the automatic trans. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

You would only need to make sure the ECM gets an appropriate PROM to match. There are differences in the engine wiring harness though for A4 and M6 cars. That could present issues for you. Did you get the engine harness complete maybe with the engine trans purchase? Is it available? It would also matter if the car/harness matches the A/C RPO. There would be a C68 auto A/C and a different one for C60 manual A/C.
WVZR-1, I did get the harness and all the accessories with the motor and trans, it does have some damaged connectors but I think it's repairable. I did see the modules available online and through my local NAPA.

You got the harness complete including the grommet and extensions to inside the car? Check your console lid SPID label for C68 or C60 and if the other car is available check it's console lid SPID label. Do you have the VIN of the car the engine and transmission were removed from? I can maybe decode the VIN for options.
Unfortunately the donor car is no longer available and the harness was cut at the point where it enters inside the car, I'm starting to think that I've gotten myself into a expensive and possibly big mess.

It seems maybe that's true but if you happened to match at least the A/C option then the rest of the required for TCC etc may not be an issue. Is the VIN available of the donor? Does your car have C60 or C68?
Look at the 2 connectors on your blower housing and see if the harness from the donor has the same 2 connectors or if it's different OR were those aspects of the harness not included with your buy? You can't get the VIN of the donor? Do you have the FSM(Factory/Field Service Manal)?
I will check that tonight when I get home, I appreciate your help.
For a '92, you might have a bit of a struggle to find an ECM at a decent price. They have been scarce for years. Only used I believe in the '92 and '93 as well as F bodies. It does control the lockup in the transmission.
