Default Problems installing my nitrous kit!

Ok, I just got my kit yesterday, it is the wet N.O.S. kit, in time for opening day at cecil county, feb. 21st. I have a few problems, one is the longer throttle body bolts that come with the kit are not the right thread size. They don't screw into the plenum all the way, so I guess I will have to go out and find the right size? I think it is a 5/16 size bolt, 20 size thread, and 3 1/2" long? I don't know where to find that at, I went to a local hardware store, they didn't have it, im about to go to home depot, hopefully they will have it. Ok, next problem, I don't know where to mount my solenoids! I don't see a space for them. I found a spot, it goes on a hold down bolt for the coolant line that runs through the intake. The problem with that, is it really tight around the hot coolant lines, and sits right above the EGR, so I am afraid it would get too hot. Also, I am not using the throttle switch, instead I am using a button, so I can launch the car, and then use the nitrous in 2nd. My problem with that is the wiring, it doesn't show you how to wire that up, only the RPM switch, I guess I just wire the button like the switch? The directions really are not detailed enough for something so risky, can anyone help me out here? One last thing, how did you guys run all the lines and the electrical? Did anyone have any of these problems? Anyone have any pics of their set up? Thanks.

Anyone? I mounted the solenoids, but I can't find the right bolt size for the throttle body! I went to two major hardware stores yesterday, they had the thread, but not the length! I am going to try to order some from work today, I don't know what else to do? No one has had this problem before? Can anyone help me out with their installation? Thanks.

Finding those bolts are a PITA. I would call NOS and see if they could send you the right ones. The bolts are metric. Thats why most places don't have them.

Generally, there will be a small specialty hardware store in your area. Ask the guys at the larger hardware stores and they can usually tell you where the specialty stores are located.

Thanks guys, I found bolts that worked. Now, my latest problem, is instead of using the micro switch, I am using a hurst shifter switch. On that switch, there is a white wire and a black wire, so I am assuming that the white wire goes to the harness plug, and the black wire goes to the arming toggle switch? Ok, well after I get that wired up, ground everything, and find places to put my switches, I can mount the bottle and test it out! As soon as all the snow goes away! Thanks everyone.

I would like to strongly urge you to use the throttle switch and the button. Lets talk about the nitrous issues and then the wiring. If you don't use a throttle switch I am afraid that you will become another nitrous statistic. What I am talking about is activating the nitrous when you are not at full throttle. Why would you do that? Well, you probably wouldn't on purpose. (I hope) It could happen though. With the throttle switch, you will have to be at full throttle and have the button pushed to activate the NOS system. Not only would you need to have both previous switches closed, there should also be a system activation toggle switch. This switch should be open when you do not wish to use NOS. Like when your woman or friend or child is driving. Whenever you don't want it activated. You were also probably given a fuel pressure shut off switch. USE this too! Ok I am done with my little speech. These "switches" should all be wired in series with the solenoids. This way, if any one of the switches or wiring is open, the system will not operate. You are asking if the white wire goes to the harness. I can't answer this yet, because I don't know what harness you are refering to. If you have more questions just ask. I can draw a diagram if I need to.

Do not use the N20 without that microthrottle switch. It does not add or detract from performance but it can definitley save your motor if for some reason you let off the throttle before you release the button/switch from inside the car.

i dont see the problem with your kit? it is so easy to install NOS? I mounted my NOS and Gas sol over by the radiator refill...and then i have the lines ran over to the TB? i have the Micro switch on the TB and the arming switch right over by my shifter so i can floor the car and then hit the arm switch and i am off! :steering:

Thanks for all the replys, I am the only one who drives my car and I will only have the bottle in my car when I go to the track. I am only using the push button switch so I can use the nitrous in 2nd gear. I know that I can have the micro switch and a push button switch also, but I don't have a clue how to wire that all up, it doesn't make much sense, the directions suck. I used the mirco switch to mount my solenoids on too. I ran the nitrous line and the power wire to the solenoids underneath my distributor. After running my car for more then 15 mins I smell something burning a little bit, I wrapped all my wires in wire loom, but still I smell some wire touching somewhere? I am not sure if it is a nitrous wire, or from my TB bypass I just did, none of my wires touch the exhaust. Also where did you guys put your switches? I can't find out where to put them, I want to hide them, like I hid my wires, and I am going to get a traction control (ASR) box to cover the solenoids. If anyone can post some pictures or diagrams that would be great or any more advice on how to wire up the switches( RPM swicth with the button switch) thanks.
