So I have a 1984 c4 crossfire with about 60k miles on it, however it runs DIABOLICALY rich, like .3 mpg rich, it throws a code 33 and I have replaced the map sensor on it along with the O2 sensor, all the spark plugs, and the distributor cap, I've boiled the issue down to a few possibilities but would like some experienced feedback to see if there's a simple fix. the ect is a possible culprit as I haven't tested it and the dash always says "LO" coolant temp even at operating temp but I've heard the temp sensor to the dash and the one to the ECU are two different things however I may wrong about this, a possible vacuum leak (explaining the persistent code 33) however I haven't found any, the O2 sensor might have a faulty connection but seems to operational. Now obviously "well then go check the stuff that you knows wrong with it" but I'm trying to figure out if one issue is more likely to cause my problem than another and if some issues have nothing to do with it, any feedback is greatly appreciated as this is my dream car and I'd love to have it running before summer time
The coolant temp sensor for the ecm is known to be troublesome. It was an early design that kind of looks like a knock sensor. It's located in front of the intake manifold pointing horizontal. Update with a new style sensor and pigtail. Here's the one I used.

Standard Motor Coolant Temperature Sensors TX3K
thanks a million! I'll look into this and let ya know how it goes!
Did you mess with anything before it started running super rich? Like fuel pressure regulator, or upgrading fuel pump to an '85 TPi one? Sometimes parts are bad right out of the box
Has your coolant level stayed rock steady? Antifreeze will kill an O2 sensor

and everything on the car is bone stock I haven't done any kind of upgrades as I just want it to run first and the coolant level hasn't gone down since I topped it off when I bought it so I don't think that it's burning coolant however with replacing the map sensor I could check to see if that's actually doing its job or if I did get a faulty part
I agree about the coolant sensor. The dash sensor should be in the driver side head. Sometimes you can get away with pushing on the connector of the sensor in the intake and it'll start working. The connector itself was the failure on my 84, not the sensor. You could put pressure on it and immediately it would start to idle down and drive fine for a few days. Then you'd hit a bump and it would run **** poor again.

check to see if throttle body diaphragms are leaking
