I designed an E Locker driver circuit for my friends 7 second BMW using an arduino. This is intended to override the factory drive to avoid it unlocking at key times. Also, my drive probably locks and maintains with more force that the BMW one, but that's not tested.

Which E Locker are you thinking of controlling?

That's a really cool use of an Arduino. I don't have an exact E-locker that I want to control. This is all hypothetical at the moment. Prior to this thread I didn't think there was much difference in D44's. So I assumed it would be pretty easy to find an E-locker that would fit a C4 and then I could write some code to control it. But that's why I asked on here because I know there are people here that have WAY more knowledge than me about the D44HD. So IF I can find one that would fit and work then I might give this a try. I think what I'm going to do is snag the next D44 I find at a salvage yard and build it for my car. With it on a bench I can take some measurements and see if anyone makes an E-Locker that could be made to fit.

That's what I did. I got this on my bench and started trying to drive it and make measurements. This unit has 2 square wave sensors to tell the position of the locker mechanism so that it can apply any locking pressure. It also has a temp sensor for the motor. You only need to drive it in one direction to lock it. if you remove power, it's returns back to open by itself. The first iteration of my driver sends full power until the it's fully locked and the motor stalls, then it reduces the current , just enough to keep it fully locked, but not enough to overheat the motor for the duration of the run.

This right here would be a good recommendation. Just push a button and it's locked. Locking and unlocking rapidly during driving I think would be a mess.
