Default FP regulator, maybe

Hello Everyone, my 89 6 spd is not running well. It almost stalls. The spark plugs are good and properly gapped, timing is good. I put a FP gauge on it yesterday.
Turn on the key 40 PSI and it immediately goes to zero.
Car running and the needle is bouncing all over 35/38 psi.
Do I need a new regulator?

The fuel pressure should hold with engine off, check the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose in case the diaphragm is torn / loosing pressure there. Or one or more injectors are leaking, would need to check your oil for dilution and gas smell.
One more thing could be the pulsator on the sender to fuel pump connection, if its failed you can bypass the pulsator with a fuel hose. Good luck hope its something simple 👍
