Default TPMS Question

Can the old band style TPMS be replaced with the new type? Will they be able to complete the re-learn process with the module being so old? Mine is a 92.
TIA

I know people have installed newer-style systems, but I don't believe there is any way to integrate new sensors with the antiquated LTPWS on these cars. That said, it's one of the quirks about these cars I like... I know, I'm weird.

I'd be interested to know if anyone has retrofitted them somehow and added a fairly discreet monitor for them.

I believe that if I were serious about internal band style sensors I'd investigate Tuson complete systems. They have internal band type for diameters up to 17.5" and a different set up for 18 - 24" rims. I've never had a discussion with them because I wasn't interested but you mention wanting to maybe mixing OE components which I doubt would communicate this system looks very practical and deserves a conversation with them. Less expensive, newer technology and better performance. I've read their documentation several times and it sure looks to be very practical. They also do some very interesting valve stems.

I will link the up to 17.5 inch package and the 18"+ is accessible from there.

I cant believe mine still work actually....but I dont like design so much. The Tuscon version looks like theyre smaller which is good. I suppose most guys are removing them and removing the warning bulb......?

Hey,

you won't be able to pair today's sensor with the C4 receiver box :
  • It's a proprieraty communication protocol operating in the 245 MHz band for your model year (89-92). The 93-95 are operating at 355 MHz. Today's sensor are operating in the 315 MHz or 433 MHz band.
  • Even if communicating in the same band, I doubt that the C4 receiver box could actually decode the information...
An article from Marc Haibeck about the TPMS topic, if you are interesting in the subject : http://www.zr1specialist.com/HAT%20W...g%20system.htm

If anybody needs the sensors, I have a full set from a '90. I have never used them, but they came with a set of '90 wheels.

PM me if interested.
