This is a stumper  After disconecting the alt. and removing all fuses , I still have a 3.25 amp draw that drains the batt. in a few days. Any help? Thanks. :banghead:
Do the horns work? I have an 85 and the horn contact insulator in
the steering column came apart and the horns starting blowing, couldn't
get them to stop so I unplugged them. This leaves the horn relay
energized though which will drain the battery after some time. The horn
relay is in the dash behind the information center, and it turns out that
near it there is an inline fuse for the horn...
Not all of the electrical circuits are fused with removable fuses. there are 8 fusible links going to different circuits on the jumper bolt next to the battery. Remove these and put your ammeter from the batt pos terminal to each individual fusible link. If no leakage current is found, then only one unfused connection is left and that is the cable going to the starter motor. With fuses removed and fusible links removed, you can measure the current into the positive cable of the battery which goes to the starter.
Do what JFB suggested. There is one wire from your pos bat cable that feeds all the circuits on the jump start block, remove all the wires from the block and test again, if you still have a draw you have narrowed it down a lot. It could be your starter, battery cables, ground connections on the bat cables, or if I remember right there are a two other connections, one is the small connector that is part of the pos bat cable, I think this one feeds the computer, and I think there is one other wire hooked to the starter where your pos bat connects.
Good luck.
