Can I delegate the AC and tensoner and go with a clockwise water pump and use the alternator as my belt tensioner or wil that not work?
thanks in advance

I'm not going to say it can't work, but it would be way easier, way cheaper, and way more reliable to just get one of those AC bypass pulleys.

That´s the way I have done it. The water pump doesn´t care, which way it spins and you don´t need a bypass pulley, just a shorter belt. No problems for some years now.
You can find pics in my older posts.

I have run with the simplest setup for many years without any problems.
I use the stock belt routing from crank pulley, power steering pump and up to the alternator.
Then over the standard rotation water pump and down to the crank again.
For tesioner I put a turnbuckle instead of the top alternator mount.
I use the stock flat water pump pulley and no problems at all running the inside of the belt over that.

The impeller inside the waterpump is different for standard and reverse rotation as seen in this youtube:

It will push water the correct way with the wrong rotation pump, but less efficient.

It was difficult to find a good picture, but you can see belt routing here and also the tensioner.

Perhaps you misunderstood me.

A reverse rotation pump running "reverse" direction will have the same efficency as a standard rotation pump running "standard" direction.
Impeller wheel is mirrored for reverse rotation pumps.

If you keep your stock reverse rotation pump, and run it "standard" direction, then it will be less efficient.

Water pumps are cheap, so of you are going to change belt routing to run the pump pulley the same direction as the crank pulley, then get a standard rotation pump.

Yes that works you have to measure a belt and fab a slotted rod for the top of the alt so you can tension. Then change the water pump though if it's cool out it could get away driving some.

Total is $170-ish, compared to $57 for the pulley. I didn't know you already had some parts on hand.

But I maintain that the factory tensioner is more reliable than using the alternator bracket, unless we're talking about one that will be more than $80-ish. The belt changes size as it warms up, so you need the tensioner to be able to respond to that and maintain the right amount of tension for the belt to last.

And if you're saving on a water pump by just running it backwards, that won't help your reliability either.
