Gas Cap 1988

Hello everybody and good morning. Thank you in advance for your opinions, feedback and advice.

I have a question regarding a gas cap for a 1988 Corvette. I see some of these on eBay that are dated and I’ve looked through the first edition of the judging manual and can’t find any reference to judging. My gas cap is not original. I want to buy a period correct one but were they dated for 88 Corvettes. I have a 72 that I am restoring and I know there’s certain requirements for a correct gas cap.

Yes, C4 gas filler caps are dated. The date is etched into the area of the stem below the threads. Julian day of year + last digit of year.

Perfect thank you my car was manufactured in October 1987 so I need to find a 87 dated gas cap with a date of 90 days before my Car‘s birthday. Thanks for all the help.
