Default TPS Voltage Check

One of the things I did while reviving my C4 that has been sleeping for 22 years is replace the TPS.
Reads .54 volts with the throttle closed, but only goes to 3.3 volts with throttle wide open. Progresses smoothly while opening throttle. Shouldn't the wide open voltage be higher Can't find reference to tolerance on the high end. Just a range of .5 to 5 volts in the service manual. Whata u think?

Take the TPS off the mount entirely and see if you can move it to the WOT voltage. If you can then its an adjustment thing, if not id say replace it. On mine, both bolts holes allow a bit of adjustment. I had to slide the TPS to where it was better inline w the arc of the tab that was moving it.

Are you sure the throttle linkage is opening all the way?

Also check the 5V reference wire to see if the ECM is actually sending 5V to it, or whether the TPS is actually receiving the full 5V.

I have seen many C4s where throttle cable is not opening the throttle all the way.. Like someone said above, check to make sure from the throttle pedal, the blades open all the way.

Good idea. I'll try that.

I'm using a test harness I picked up somewhere to test the voltage and opening the throttle by hand.

Will take a look at that tomorrow.
It might just be a bad TPS.
