Default Fuel Pump question

With my Carb Conversion in process I had a Fuel Pump question.
If one was to remove the in tank electric pump and just add pick up hose to the stock in take unit and put in an inline pump like something from Holley. Would it be just as easy as that in just removing the in tank electric pump and adding hose to the sender/pick up?

Not sure of it or not there are a few questions I think you need to look into.
1 is the fuel pump location still an active option on later block designs with just a block off (I think it is)
2 does the cam for a Fuel injection motor have the needed Lobe to drive a mechanical pump.
All these are problems could be worked around with an electric pump either in tank or mounted, your Not the first to loose Fuel injection so someone will answer what's best.

Not planning on putting a Manual pump on the block.
Looking to do an Elect inline like a Holley Blue

I f I were going to put on inline fuel pump I would remove and bypass the in tank fuel pump. Be careful with the wiring in the tank because I think you want the fuel gauge to continue working.

Holley blue is not designed to pull fuel upp, it should be gravity fed below the tank. There is also a bladder in the tank so adding a port in the bottom is not a good idea.

Why not keep the stock pump?
All you need is a regulator,

something like this:
https://aeromotiveinc.com/products/e...sure-regulator
https://prod-da.s3.us-east-2.amazona...2a0ea6a0df.pdf

You mount that near the engine and connect both feed from the pump and fuel return to the regulator.
Then you have a third port with low pressure feed to the carb.

One extra benefit is that the stock fuel lines support a lot more flow with stock fuel pump that is capable of higher pressure.
At the low required carb pressure the stock puel pump will also flow more.

Cheapest and best solution is a Carter replacement for an 84 Vette. It puts out 12 psi. Then regulate it down.
