I just received my Mid America catalog and saw the LT1 Targa Style mufflers for my 90(pn-603-414 $179). Do these sound good? They have the rectangular tips that I want (I was going to buy the slip on tips, but if these mufflers sound good I just might get these instead). There doesn't really look like there is any "muffler" on them , but I could be wrong? Does anyone have these or ever tried them before? All input is appreciated.
Thanks Rick
I had the monza targa mufflers and switched them to the performance choice ones that has no gap between the two outlets. They are Loud, but they sound great though, a real head turner. They might be the same ones you are talking about. I'll grab a catalog and check later today. There really isn't a muffler on them, the ones i have you can see straight through. They have sound dampners built into the tubing which help a little. I started my car before I put the mufflers on and there was a difference. I also don't have a cat on there either, I bought the midamerica true dual exhaust, which probably also adds to the sound. You'll defintely gain some HP, but you'll lose a little torque.
But if you are looking for something that sounds unique and loud, I would recommend them.
I had them on my '91 for awhile. They sound pretty decent. Mellow at idle and fairly aggressive when you're on it. I had my main cat hollowed as well so I'm sure that made it a bit louder. I would advise you to have a muffler shop do the install as the fit and finish leave a bit to be desired. I tried installing mine and couldn't get them anywhere close to lined up. The shop had to heat them and bend them to get the outlets lined up with the cut outs in the bumper. I would also put a good coat of paint on them prior to install. Mine rusted pretty quickly and I rarely drive in bad weather. I'm not sure if the paint will help, but it can't hurt.

:iagree: I did them myself, and they definitely aren't as high as I want them, it's tough to get them just right. Also, if you get the stainless steel ones, you shouldn't have a problem with rusting. If you do paint them, make sure to get a really high tempered paint, otherwise it will just burn off and smell like crap! :iagree:
I have the KBD Targa from ecklers, they went on easy and fit great. The sound is really good too, they dont drone and give you a headache, but sound aggressive like a sports car should
