unidefied box under dash
I have a 1985 base model that I got with the engine disassembled. I have rebuilt the engine and have the short block back in the car. I installed the battery to check out all the electrical stuff on the car since I don't know the history of it. I noticed a small steel black box under the dash on the driver's side hush panel. The box has a keyhole (Ignition and door key does not fit) and a red light on it. The box has a yellow, red, 2 black wires and a mechanical cable (like an old choke cable) coming from it. The cable runs up to the front left (headlight) area and is cut off at the end. I performed the test I read in one of these posts using the jumper wire between fuses and the SECURITY light went out. I was going to check the resistance on my ignition key but it's an aftermarket key and does not have the chips on it.
Would anyone know what this box is,. I'm going to leave it alone until I'm ready to start the vehicle lol. I realize I'm all over the place with these posts and thanks for all your patients.
