Default NASTY idle!!! ARGHHHH

Ok, I have a idle problem. This problem started yesterday and came out of no where. When I try to start the car, I have to crank it for 4-5 seconds. Then when it finally fires up it gets really ugly. Actually is sounds like I have a massive cam in it. It seems like only 3 cylinders are firing, the whole car shakes and then it will either stall after 15-20 seconds or it will very slowley return to a smooth regular idle. What the hell is going on!?!? Ive replaced many parts recently including:

-Fuel injectors, pump, and filter
-Ignition coil, plugs, module, cap/rotor

I also checked ignition timing. Oh ya, when it starts up it fills my garage with a strong fuel odor. Any ideas guys???

Well it might just be a little thing that is either leaking air or some bad connection.
Either way TTT

So it was running fine after all the new replacement parts?
Any codes? Holding down accelerator while cranking? Motor hot or cold when problem occurs?
Some thoughts:
MAF sensor.
Stuck EGR valve.
How's fuel pressure?
Cold start injector clicking?
Clogged cats?
Too much fuel vapor from the canister entering the throttlebody?
Plug wires arcing? Test in darkness
Can ya hear any vacuum sucking sound anywhere in the engine bay?
a little more info please :D

Hi Paul,
1. MAF? Is there a way to test this?
2. I disabled the EGR a while ago with no ill affects since
3. Will have to check this
4. You know what, there is a clicking noise coming from somewhere by the intake??? Cold start injector maybe???
5. No cats, he he
6. Hmmm, how can I make sure??
7. Have to check this.
8. No, I do not hear any vacuum noise.

Runs like crap? Strong fuel smell? Sounds like the fuel canister purge solenoid is operating at start up /idle. ....allowing the canister to dump into the intake. Disconnect the vacuum line to the throttle body at the solenoid, plug the line and fire it up cold. If it cures the problem, replace the solenoid.

The strong fuel smell is coming from the exhaust BTW.

Oh yeah, and this only happens at cold start up.

Sounds like my car when I had the fuel injector stuck open. :( Not saying that is it, but i would check your fuel pressure after you prime the system. Does it hold?

I figure its not an injector because I have the same problem if I try to start it after it's been sitting overnight. With a bad injector leaving it overnight would give the fuel in the cylinders time to evaporate. But this is not the case. Whats really weird is when I try to start it it will stumble and miss all over the place but after about 20 seconds it will return to normal idle?!?! This only happens when the engine is cold BTW. Someone please help!!!

my rough ldle was due to a fauly injector that i had rebuilt six months earlier. The car was fine if you stepped on the gas but at idle it sounds real bad.

I found the problem. It was a faulty IAC! Thanks to those who had helped.
