I was having a bad idle and cutout/bucking at cruising speeds generally under 2k rpm. I spent hundreds of dollars tring to find the problem. The tool I used to find the problem was LT1 Edit. This is the best tool I have!
To make a long story short, I forced my PCM to run in open loop all the time to bypass the apparently bad O2 wiring circuit I have on the passenger side. I guess my wires were slowly melting from my headers and got bad enough to make the the O2 operate strangely. Some kind of short.
Anyway I proved tonight that the car runs great by running it at the 1/4 mile strip.
My Goodyear GSC tires are pretty bad so with good ones I should get a 12.6. The mph tells me the mods did me good and what you should expect with those type of mods. In fact I did four runs and all were 12.8xx @ 112.xx
So are you gonna fix the wires so it will run in closed loop the rest of the time?
Not anytime soon. I am tired of working on the car. Besides in open loop I have total control on the A/F ratio. I can tune to get better gas mileage too. I like the fact that the PCM is not try to "correct" my tune all the time. Running in open loop is not uncommon.
