Another overdrive thread
My early 85 had an overdrive switch that wasnt working so i pulled a lead from the overdrive into the cabin and another lead from the battery. When I was driving in second gear I touched the two together and it successfully shifted into overdrive for 10 or so seconds before it lost pressure and shifted out. It had blown 80% of the fluid out of the vent. I dropped the pan and the valve body checked for any obstructions and there was none. I tried it again with the same outcome. This is a freshly rebuilt overdrive so I am kinda lost. I'm so over it that I've decided to sell the car but decided to hop on a thread in case anyone had a quick fix.

If its all blowing out of the vent when its engaged assuming it wasnt super overfilled or over heating that would lead me to believe that their is a blockage somewhere. I would make sure your trans cooler and lines aren't plugged up with debris. If that's not the case then the overdrive unit mostly likely wasn't rebuilt correctly. Goodluck!
