Default 84’ Vs 85’ sending unit?

Does anyone know if a 85’ sending unit is the same as a 84’? They look the same from all the pics I seen just wondering if the main connector might be different. I need to order a new one with a fuel for the 84’ project and I’m going with a later pump just unsure on on the sender.

The pumps are different. But the 85 pump can be used in the 84 as an upgrade. But the 84 pump can't be used in an 85. I'm not sure about the plug. If it's different just solder on the one you need.

I know the pumps are different and I plan to use a 85’ pump I was more concerned about differences of the sending units. 84’ has it’s own part # and 85-88’ has another. Being I’m doing a 85’ pump I thought I will just due the later sender if it works considering I need everything. My old unit is rusted beyond repair from sitting for years. I have searched and can’t really find out the sender differences which is why I ask in hopes of learning something.

I believe that both are 3 terminal WeatherPack so swap I would think be very straight forward. You might want to check this eBay vendor, ask questions and pay attention to price? I'm not familiar with the vendor.

I asked them and Toms classic on EBay neither really said what if any differences there are. All the wiring looks to be the same the only thing I read was the later units had a pulsater and the 84’s did not. I don’t know if the pump tube is shorter for this but that don’t matter it’s getting Hose with clamps.

I'd think if you chose the brand in the link 'price' matters much! You might just ask for opinions of the Herko brand. Diswiz I believe used that brand for his '93.

The 85 sending unit costs more because of the higher volume higher pressure pump. If the plug is the same then you can use an 85 sending unit in an 84. The fuel level sender is the same. Like I said in my last post the 85 pump is an upgrade for an 84. If the plug is wrong then just solder the plug from the 84 onto the 85 sending unit. But I'm willing to bet that won't be needed.

The prrice for both units in minus the pump I’m using DW200 pump. The guy at Toms is pulling both senders Monday to do a side by side so hopefully i will get a definitive answer.
