Re: Does anyone here use a Jacobs Nitrous Mastermind? (Mikedril)
I love mine. It works like a charm. Only problem with them is finding one that works. Some of them seem to have a problem of not opening the nitrous solenoid. They are very good about taking them back and giving you another one. You don't even have to pull off all the wires if you have to return it. They let me cut mine. After I returned my first one I have had no problems and has probably been the best mod I have ever done. I have been using it for about a year and a half. Another warning. If you use the adjustability feture it is very hard on the solenoids. It can cause them to wear out prematurly. You might want to consider cheater style solenoids. They can take a lot more abuse.
Re: Does anyone here use a Jacobs Nitrous Mastermind? (Mikedril)
Yes you still need to use the jets. The way it works is it just flutters the power to the solenoids. Actualy it flutters the ground not the 12V but you know what I mean. Anyway it says on the **** "Full Nitrous RPM". It starts at 1000 rpm and goes to 10,000rpm. If you have jetting for a 150 shot and set the **** to 10,000 rpm that would mean at 6000 rpm it would be close to a 75 shot. It pulses both the fuel and nitrous solenoids. If you put the **** at 3000 rpm and you engage the nitrous at 3000 rpm then it doesn't pulse them at all. It just opens them like normal. Thats why you still need the jets.
Re: Does anyone here use a Jacobs Nitrous Mastermind? (Mikedril)
I tried one, it did not work (only portions did). With a product having so many quality control issues, do you trust it to control your nitrous flow? I did not and sent it back.
Re: Does anyone here use a Jacobs Nitrous Mastermind? (Vette92)
I have used one for years. Although my first one did not turn on the nitrous! With that being said, I love mine. I rarely use the progressive setup, just because my car wouldn't spin if I hit a 150 shot at 2700-2800 rpm in first. This was on a basically stock 91 L98. This car made 250 rwhp w/out and over 400 w/ nitrous. The lines I used were long and it makes for a fairly soft hit when you initially start spraying. If the solenoids are closer to the intake, the hit will be alot harder. Now that I am rebuilding this engine, it will have a lot more usable rpm. It will also make more power. I think the Mastermind will be perfect in this application. The only reason I really ran it on the old engine, was for the safety features. I don't know of another product that even comes close. Good luck!
Re: Does anyone here use a Jacobs Nitrous Mastermind? (Mikedril)
I have not been impressed with mine. If you set it to start flowing at very near full flow and bring it in fast it works but if you try to use it like the ad say's and bring it up over a wide rpm range mine shuts off and shows that the fuel pressure was low but this is with 70 lbs. fuel pressure. The same fuel pressure works fine when you bring it in at 100% I have two large fuel pumps and dual pickup tubes in the tank with dual lines to the engine fuel pressure never drops the problem is in the mastermind??? :cuss :leaving:
