My port side catalytic converter is dead and rattling like mad. I need a replacement, and obviously don't want to pay $1300 for an OEM piece. I have looked at the Random Technology cats and they seem like the way to go, as I have decided to replace both at once. Any other suggestions for a good high flow cat? Or should I just gut the factory pieces?
P.S. I have oxygen sensor simulators that are not installed. Should I use them with an aftermarket cat to be on the safe side?
P.P.S. What, if any, warranty is on factory cats? I have ~54,000 miles on car.
The factory warranty on my parent's 99 blazer for emissions is 8 years, 80k miles. It wouldn't hurt to check with your dealership, that would ultimately be the cheapest way out.
Of course ideally you just remove them if you can get by with it ;)
