Hey, I have a 1986 corvette and want to upgrade my exhaust system and wanted to know what long tube headers and front y pipe that I could get for relatively cheap.
I ended up with Hedman because, as I recall, it had the thickest flange compared to the others. Some have had problems with the flange warping. I had to mod the housing myself at cylinder 9.
I used a set of Hedman Elite headers a few years ago, without the emissions, adopted (cut and welded tubing onto the collector) to run with a TPIS 3" Y pipe, re-coated everything with flame proof silver. Used Magnaflow high flow 3" cats after the Y pipe, standard catback (Magnaflow) from there on back.
Looking back, I should have gone with the Exotic Muscle headers and the extension pipes to fit the stock system, a little more expensive but it all fits perfect.
Today I have the ARH stainless headers, and full custom stainless exhaust (as i was trying to get proficient with Tig welding thin stainless)
