I have just picked up a 91 coupe with all the goodies; first stupid quesiton, was keyless available on 91? If so, I will harass Chevy for fobs. If not, contemplating after market, but concerened about interoperability/ problems with stock alarm.

Re: Keyless entry advice... (mattw)
The GM system is supposed to be pretty cheap ~$100 and work with the alarm. I'm looking to get one installed, but of course, I have to spend 150 hours looking for a place to buy one for $10 less since I'm such a cheapskate.
Not sure if it was standard or not for you.. but TTT!
Only the '93+ cars got keyless entry from the factory.
Unfortunately there is no plug-in, add-on keyless entry system from GM. The alarms/keyless entries they sell are made for any type of vehicle and thus require splicing.
This is the unit I chose to go with. It would work great on your car. As for integration with factory alarm...I used two relays to disarm when I unlock the doors with the remote. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=465837

Think I got it at Sam's for about 29 bux. (receiver & transmitter)
Ended up with about 100 bux in the complete thing. (Radio Shack is NOT the cheapest place to purchase electronic parts)
Added a couple of (FOUR) relays, sockets and connectors to the system to perform exactly as opening the doors with the key and exactly as using the lock buttons.
Wired the "trunk" button to open the rear hatch window.
Patched into the parking/tail lights to flash them also.
I get the interior/exterior courtesy lights on when I press the unlock button, also.
Everything still works without the fob so there's no problem if you lose it or the fob battery goes down.
You WILL have to splice several wires to get ALL the functionality you want.
It's not too difficuly to install yourself. It'll take a couple of easy parttime weekends or one grueling weekend to install.
Oh one more hint: Study the factory wiring diagrams before you start to give yourself a good "picture" of what you'll need to do.
My 92C4 did not have the keyless entry and only the GM alarm. The car is not theft proof and I would hate to loose it for the sake of the cost of a good alarm system..
I went to electronics shop (AC Delco service shop) and had them install keyless system with anti-theft proofing that locks out starter, time delay (2 minutes) for fuel pump (lock-out in case thieves start or hot wire it any way) flashing lights and horn signal (to find car), remote open rear lid, siren and vibration switch (adjusted and tested). I paid the $250 and picked it up in the afternoon. They used several (approved and tested?) splices as shown in their manual. I was impressed and I had them install the same system on my C3 (without latch & fuel pump etc.). I couldn't have done the same fine job even in 4 weekends. Everything works like a charm and most importantly: I feel better even at a little premium cost
I put one of those kits from corvette central in my 92. It was about 260.00,but it is all plug in no cutting or splicing. Has no effect on factory alarm works as before. You do have to take apart the passenger side door and fish a wire from cabin to door, piano wire was in kit. Also opens rear hatch remotely(if alarm is set unlock doors first). Just another option.
