Race ramps don’t raise my 96 up high enough to work underneath and ever since I had a Honda accord fall off the jack stands on to my legs I am a little hesitant to use extended jackstands. I just want to get the car high enough to do thinks like an oil pan gasket change or a full exhaust swap… etc… I am working in a single bay garage at home.
I had a 4-post lift in my old garage 10 ft high ,moved new garage 8ft high.
I brought a quicklift it raises the car 24 in high and allows me to do oil changes.drop exhaust etc.

Make and use cribbing under the tires. Much more stable than jack stands. Won't be in your way to get under the car like quick-jacks, and easier (lighter) and less room required to store than quick jacks. A few stud-grade 2X4 are lot cheaper than quick jacks too.
Wrestling with the oil pan ahh the good old days. I've always used the jacks and jack stands then put the tire under the car if there's room. I keep two jacks and put one each side to raise up the whole front. I've never had the jacks leak down but put jack stands ofc anyways.
There are two and four post lift options and these single post lifts:
I just got a new quick jack 6000. I believe it goes a little bit higher than the old 5000. They seem very well built. They are heavy to move around. I should have bought one years ago. Dan
I have a 4 post in my garage. My ceiling isn't that much higher than yours. With an 8 foot ceiling you could comfortably sit under the car in a roller chair. This is what I do most of the time anyway. Mine is a 7000 pound lift from APlus

When going higher, switch to higher jack stands. I've just rebuilt Her tranny and jacked Her again to rotate the torque converter to get rid of some of the vibration. Started first side with HF 3 tons, other side up on HF 6 tons, up and up to 19" off the floor. Advise a final check, make sure to try pushing on each wheel, lift up and down, any movement, find out why; down and up again if you can't find it.
