Greetings,
Im a first timer, just bought my first and probably only, 1991 C4 and was wondering which repair manual you old timers have found to be the best for an old shade tree like myself. I’m not new to the classics as back in the 70’s, 80’s, and into the 90’s , I was an avid F body nut. The C4 is a Bucket list item that I can cross off the list!
any advice towards a good manual will be greatly appreciated. I’ve used both Haynes and Chilton’s in the past but it’s been over 30 years since I’ve even looked at one. Are they as competent as they used to be? Or should I look for a used one from the same era?
Those both suck. Have multiple years and pictures in them and it doesn't apply to certain models on year specific troubleshooting. Good for single moms that want to change brakes and feel accomplished while boasting they are an adult accepting child support and alimony, I mean, strong and independent woman who doesn't need a man...
Get a Helms. They are year specific and what the dealers used, so you aren't hunting for a non-existent 96 LT4 wiring color code shown in a Haynes while working on an 84 cross-fire

Gone are the good old days I remember of Chilton books telling you gap specs for points, or valve lash adjustments. Now they copy and paste the beginning of every oil change or brake job as
Step 1; Disconnect the battery, caution, do not drink battery contents
Step 2; Jack all tires off the ground, put ramps under the wheels and six 10 ton jack stands under the frame
Step 3: Lock the ignition keys up in a biometric safe across town...
Welcome to the forum. It is the most active Corvette site. Buy the GM Factory Service Manuals, don't waste your money on the others. The FSM is model year specific and can be down loaded. Being an old fart, I prefer the hard copies. I also have a 91, but mine is red. Is yours steel blue metallic? We like lots of photos. 6 speed or automatic?
Good grief ,they are! Haha I just bought it so I haven’t done anything to it yet, thanks. New tires coming soon so we’ll get it on right. Probably the previous owner rotated the cheap way…thanks again!

RC, thank you for not being offended. BTW, I do like your wheels in chrome!

gm manual would be best.before the internet i use to buy 2 or 3 different authors and cross refrance , because i found mistakes. Haynes and chilton are fine for general maintenance. Brakes, oil change, tune up. When i was young and money was tight, i copied pages i needed from shop manual at library.
