My buddy bought a 91 , im wondering the best way to replace a bad wire that's close to the battery, it looks like a group of wires with built-in fuses in them, 1 somehow got cooked and he isn't sure the best way to fix it,
a couple of questions, the number on the black hnubby thing is a in line fuse ?? And what are the numbers on it ? Amps ? Can he just put a in line fuse there to replace the damaged one ? What gauge wire is best ?
thanks for any help or advice
It's not a wire it's a fusible link, Follow link to the printed (molded) into the black plastic is the amps replace the link with the correct value link and the same length. Use solder and shrink wrap or those high end crimp connectors with the shrink wrap built in No Amazon 500 for a $1.50 connectors
Anyone know the best place to get the fuseable link ?
NAPA shows it Special order, Amazon has IDK if I would trust it,Rock auto show it. No matter where I think you will need to order.
You can put Section of wire in with a fuse, but they are unforgiving they just pop, links are Slow burn like a shock absorber they get hit take it hold on until the Dead Short.
