I ran one years ago on my 96 and don't recall any of those problems.

I had a different brand, Maybe Vette 2 Vette or Van Steel or VB&P something starting with the letter V, haha.

for the earlier vette it was a straight bar with some heavy ends that could be shimmed and I used the OEM UCA forward bolts as they were long enough after a proper camber adjustment (short spacer). If never moved, it was solid. Note that the stock bolts have a square key, and this fit perfectly into the end plate slots, so it probably resists rotation more than the cheap hardware supplied. Since it’s a really heavy piece, I wanted to test back to back to back on an autocross test day, and it seemed more precise and it was a little faster, so I left it in.

But since then, I’ve removed the whole cross member, seam welded and reinforced, and also a heavy aluminum motor plate to tie the two sides together, so I sold the brace a few years ago. I suspect that the close member can fatigue and flex more after some stressful decades, so the bottom piece should be reinforced (where the leaf spring forces are focused of you still have leafs.) then there are a lot of seams in the LCA attach pockets, and then the side uprights where they attach to the frame. Other changes for me, included larger 5/16 fine thread bolts and that included a brass bushing pressed into the cross member uprights. These are bigger so I had to also ream the UCA bar (steel one from SPC)

I may take it out completely. Gives me more room for belt change, access to other items down there.
And, I dont run it hard in autocross etc anymore
