I have a '94 Lt-1 -6speed. I keep having a problem with my clutch reservoir
emptying. I get ready to to engage the clutch and nothing. I fill it back up -bleed it and within 3 - 4 days on not running the car I have the same problem.
I have not found any leakage on the garage floor. My question is: Do I need a new slave cylinder and if so is it a simple removal and installation.
You may want to pull the slave and see if the seal is busted and the fluid escaping into the bell housing. I had an old one ding this a little. What you are talking about seems excessive though. Is it the brake master or the clutch master that will loose fluid into the interior? May want to look under there as well and see if it is getting soaked up by the foam under the carpet by the pedals.
I had the same problem but not as much fluid loss. I replaced my clutch master cylinder. You can check your slave cylinder for leaks. It is held on by 2 bolts and easy to take off.The master cylinder is held on by 2 bolts as well but a little tricky. You will need to drop the carpeted kick plate under the steering wheel and disconnect the clutch peddle from the cylinder piston. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect clutch fluid line. The master cylinder is about $70 and takes about 1 hour to fix. You will need someone to help bleed the line. It sounds like your master cylinder. Good luck.
