I have a 93 Lt1 that recently started to overheat, but it only does it while idling. This has also been paired with high revving. Both idling and driving. Dont know if its connected.
Within a span of 10 minutes just from sitting it almost reached 260 before I shut it off. Revving will go up and down to 1000rpm. Highest its gotten is 2000rpm.
It doesnt heat up while its driving though, it actually cools down as long as its consistently running.
I read someone had the same over heating problem and suggested burbing the coolant. Thoughts?

Does the fan ever turn on? When was the last time the coolant was flushed?
As already stated, you need to determine if the cooling fan comes on when temps reach 228-230. Before that did you see if you have the proper level of coolant in the system. Even if proper amount of coolant in system and fan comes on when temp is reached the radiator fins may be clogged with trash and dirt .You need to check the items stated to determine next steps you can do.

My fiance replaced the heater core cause it blew up a couple months back, so coolant is all new and he checked it recently. As for the fan, I have no idea when it kicks on because it idles too loud for me to hear, so I'll have to have him check it. I thought I may have heard the fan kick on around the 230 mark, though.
If the fan is coming on around 230 the temp should start to tick back down. If it doesn't my next step would to insure the thermostat is fully opening and the radiator cap is holding proper pressure. Both the thermostat and radiator cap are low cost and easy to replace. I've replaced both on my 95 this year. Thermostat because it wasn't opening fully and the cap because it was not holding pressure which caused coolant to flow into the overflow and causing the coolant to overflow from the container
