I got my 1990 Corvette to crank over, but I checked the fuel rails at the pressure test port and no fuel came out when I pressed the valve. Is fuel supposed to come out there?
I know I have spark and compression, but it seems like I’m not getting any fuel. I have a brand new fuel filter ready to install, but the old one is giving me a hard time coming off. About a month ago, I replaced the sending unit.
Any ideas on what could be going on or what I should check next?
Disconnect the electrical connector at the top of the fuel tank and check for 12v going to the fuel pump. You should get 12v for a few seconds when you key the ignition on. And a steady 12v while you're cranking the engine. If you don't have 12v then check fuses. If you do have 12v then something is wrong at the fuel pump/sending unit assembly in the tank. Maybe a loose connection.
Before disconnecting anything, stand at the back of the car with the fuel door open. Have a friend turn the key to the ignition position. You should hear the fuel pump cycle on for a few seconds.
