What year is your car? I would look into replacing the fuel pump with one out of an 84 Crossfire equipped Corvette (about 13 psi). Then any carb rated fuel pressure regulator should knock it down to what you need for either a Holley or Edelbrock. Make sure you get a gauge on one of the outputs of the fuel pressure regulator so you can see what is going to be sent to the carb. Also, if you get a return style fuel pressure regulator, you can just plumb the return back into the tank using the existing return line which is smaller in diameter than the feed.

You can use a Vega pump. It was also used on some carbed 305 Camaros in the 80s, it helped the mechanical fuel pump as that was still on the engine too.
