Mysterious water leak
1985 corvette. I have a small water leak that only seems to appear shortly after start up. When the car is started, I hear a "groaning" sound coming from the front of the engine that last for about 20 seconds. After that, there is no sound until the next cold start up the next day. I have looked as best as I can see and I see no leaks from hoses, etc. When I get under the car, I see a drip coming from the area near the right front of the oil pan area. But, I can't see where it originates from. Even though I can't see it clearly, I don't think the water pump weep hole is leaking. That "moaning" sound is telling me something, I just can't figure out what . Help !!!

Maybe a freeze plug for the leak. Not sure what the groan is.

Thanks for the reply. It very well could be a leaking freeze plug. It seems to not leak when driven, just after initial startup, , but the heat might be evaporating the coolant before I can see it. I will check when the weather gets a bit better ... I have to work outside. Thanks for the reply. The sound I hear might be an unrelated issue.
