Hello All, I want to hook up a GPS speedometer sensor, what would be the easiest way to hook it up? Could I hook it to one of these wires on the VSS connector? Or would it be easier to connect to one in the dash. Any advice helps!
You want the sender under the dash pad with a clear view through the windshield. Mine works fine. But i have aftermarket speedo as well. Just remember it wont work in tunnels if you have any near you.
You can NOT drive your OE speedo using a GPS sender. What after-market are you intending to use or are your intentions just to use a different device for a speedo check maybe?

Basically Im wondering if the oem vss is the only way to get my oem cluster to show mph, mine does not work and I have sent the cluster away and was told my vss was most likely the culprit, im trying to avoid buying/installing a new one that could fail again and would like to buy a gps sender that has a wire that goes into the computer but not sure how I could do it.

It is the only inexpensive option for the OE cluster function.
It seems the connector is good, but it deserves confirmation. There's other possible but unlikely circumstances but it's going to require removal of the VSS to check/confirm. Check the VSS in the car for some confirmations. I would imagine yours should be marked 40-45 somewhere on the VSS. You can check the VSS using a rotary device and checking for AC voltage. Does odometer work?
There does seem to be a conversion that probably could work but I'd try for a used from the CF WTB/FS marketplace if it's actually a VSS issue. Most would have done the required checks before sending the cluster out. Who did you send it to?
Did you check if it is a wiring problem, the sensor, or the gears driving the sensor as I suggested as possible faults in your other topic?
Fixing the actual fault is probably the easiest way to get speed on the cluster.

*** I didn't see your other similar thread.
odometer doesn't work, the numbers spin freely so I assume its physically broken. I think im going to try to tackle the situation as you described since wiring a aftermarket solution wouldn't work.
