Hey so I recently replaced the optispark in my 96 with a couple buddies, and that went ok, but I'm lost as to how to route the vacuum lines. The vacuum lines as they are now are a mess after the car was at a mechanic's who wasn't familiar with this car.
Do the lines go underneath the alternator to the driver's side of the intake? Or underneath the front accessory bracket? The car's been reassembled and I don't wanna take off the water pump again just to check. The FSM is very unhelpful with this kinda crap, it's a shame.
I am not home so I can't tell you exactly the route of the line from the opti to the left side of the manifold. I am not sure but I think any route is fine as long as it does not interact with the belt. Dan
I would love to have a final answer on this, I recently too changed the Opti on my 95 and when I pulled the water pump I found the hose cut though by pulley and belt.
So I found on reassemble I was able to route up between things close to the block but it's still a close fit to belt
So my buddies came and worked on my car while I was off at work, and they got it all hooked up for me. they routed the line with the filters up behind the opti side spark plug wires, and behind the water pump. I have no idea how he did it without removing everything again, but he did.
The other hose was connected to the passenger side of the intake manifold by connecting to a preexisting "T" connector.
The car finally ran again, but it's misfiring on two cylinders, and it won't start after it gets hot.
I mean it's still progress from not running at all, but hopefully it just needs new plugs and wires. and an ICM that's actually expensive instead of a delphi.
